Bouldering is a fun way to challenge yourself with friends, family, or on your own. Getting started with bouldering is easy: all you need is indoor sportswear and to step inside Väki. We have climbers of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Please don't wear your best clothes, as the climbing holds are rough and may damage your clothes.

How to start?

Climbing requires registration, which can be done through the "Register" link at the top of the website. When registering, you must agree to the terms and conditions of use, as climbing involves a risk of injury, even though it is generally easy and safe. Accidents can happen. Minors must register with a guardian.

Climbing uses specially designed shoes, which can be rented or purchased from us. No other equipment is really needed for this type of climbing. Bouldering does not use rope belaying, but rather safety mats that meet EU standards to protect against possible falls. Our climbing walls cover over 250 square meters, and the route heights vary between three and four meters. The wall profiles vary from straight vertical walls to steep inclines. There are about 60 routes in our hall. We modify them weekly to offer new and interesting climbs. The routes offer challenges for all levels, from beginners to professionals.

Individual route holds are distinguished by a uniform color, and starting holds are marked with hold markers. Each route has a TOP hold, which marks the end of the route. The goal is to grab the TOP hold with both hands in a controlled manner, which is considered a successful climb. However, you are encouraged to climb on all holds at your own pace and within your skill level. If you have any questions or concerns, our customer service is happy to answer them.

We offer a wide range of climbing courses and private coaching. Please contact our customer service for more information.

Climbing for Kids

Kids are very welcome to climb at Väki, and we want to encourage children and young people to be active! Even our own daughter loves spending her free days at the gym. We have climbing shoes starting from size EUR24, and even the youngest ones can come and spend time with their families while their siblings climb. You can even put babies in a stroller for a nap in the hallway. In addition, we have put together a small play area in a visible place where you can read a book or play with blocks.

There are a few things to keep in mind when climbing with children:

- Do not walk or run on the climbing mats.
- Children under 12 must be accompanied by a guardian or supervised.
- Large groups only for guided private lessons (under 12 years old - over 5 people)
- Small children should not be left unsupervised in the warm-up area or on the climbing mat.
- Children under 7 climb for free with a parent; otherwise, we charge a one-time fee for children 6€
- Rental shoes for all ages €3

With these rules, we aim to provide a pleasant and safe experience for everyone. Children are the responsibility of their guardians, and safety is very important to us!

Etiquette and Safety

All first-time climbers receive an introduction to the sport, and we'll go over safety guidelines and rules to ensure a fun and safe experience for everyone. The crash pad extends at least 2.5 meters from the outermost point of the wall and is 26 cm thick, guaranteeing a soft landing.

Good climbing etiquette includes:

- No running or shouting in the gym.
- Stay on the floor; the mat is for falling.
- You may sit on the edge of the mat, but be aware of your surroundings.
- Give climbers already on the wall space to focus and wait your turn. Those on the crash pad are responsible for ensuring no one falls on top of them.
- Be mindful of other climbers before starting a route, as some routes cross the wall and may come from around a corner.

Safety considerations:

- Do not throw anything onto the wall.
- Always climb facing downwards, using all available holds.
- Try to fall onto the mat in a controlled manner.
- If you slip, don't try to break your fall with your hands. Instead, bend your knees and roll onto your back.
- Keep your belongings on the edge of the mat, on the benches, or in the locker room.

In case of an accident:

- Report the incident to customer service immediately.
- Follow the instructions of the customer service representative.
- Prevent further injuries by informing other climbers.
- Stay calm.

By following these guidelines, you can minimize the risk of accidents and ensure that everyone has a fun and enjoyable experience.

Corporate and Community Outreach

We organize recreational day events and gatherings according to your wishes. So, let us create a unique and memorable recreational experience for your company or group. Our services extend beyond our popular guided climbing and private yoga sessions. We are continually adding new activities to our portfolio to ensure we meet your specific needs. To learn more, please contact customer service vaki@vaki.fi.

Other Facilities and Walls

Beyond our climbing gym and yoga studio, we have a free-to-use warm-up area. For our annual members, there's a compact fitness zone equipped with barbells, benches, and a squat rack for supplementary strength training.

We offer two dedicated apps to enhance your climbing experience. MoonBoard features three distinct hold sets on a 40-degree wall. Located at the rear of the gym, it uses an app to illuminate LED lights guiding you through various routes. While you can create your own routes, the app already boasts a vast library of 55,000.
Our second app, Stōkt, includes our spraywall, often referred to as the "million wall." This allows you to tailor your training to your specific strengths and weaknesses. You can also explore and save routes created by other climbers.

For further details about these apps, feel free to inquire at our customer service desk.
